How to Start an Offshore Forex Company

An offshore Forex company can be developed and designed in such a way as to benefit from the trillions of dollars a year in global foreign currency trading. To start an offshore Forex company the individual or corporation should do a little research as to the jurisdiction in which to obtain licensure and the jurisdiction from which and in which to operate. It is wise to make sure that the credentials of those offering to facilitate obtaining a license and setting up the business.
In the modern world it is increasingly common for individuals and corporations to do business overseas from their home country and, indeed, to set up banking, asset protection vehicles, and whole businesses offshore. When assets are already offshore it makes perfect sense to invest, trade, and save offshore too. The wise investor will look at where the most income can be made and, in the case of Forex trading, that is most often with the person or corporation with the Forex license.
To set up an offshore Forex company the first step is to find someone with the expertise to obtain a license and to assist in organizing the details of setting up the business. An offshore Forex brokerage will commonly be owned directly by another offshore entity such as an offshore corporation, an offshore foundation, an offshore trust, or a combination of these. The entity helping to set up the business and all of its necessary paperwork should have experience in doing so and should be able to provide valid references.
The second step in starting an offshore Forex company is to choose a jurisdiction. The company providing counsel should be able to provide more than one option and give convincing reasons for the jurisdiction most highly recommended. Some jurisdictions may provide easy paperwork and all of the legalities but not be practical places from which to do business.
The third step is to decide on what legal offshore entities will be part of the structure of the business. It is typically not necessary to have all entities in the same jurisdiction and often times is better to have a corporation, foundation, or trust in one country own the business operating in another jurisdiction. Setting up these fundamentals may, at times, be the most important aspect of long term success and should be done with someone fluent in the individual’s native language and customs.
Step four, after doing the paperwork and having a legal business, is to set up the business itself. Here, again, it is useful to have competent and reliable advice up front. One of the many advantages of doing business offshore is that it is typically cheaper to run a business. Picking a jurisdiction with fewer paperwork requirements and lower capital requirements is a good start. Then looking to outsource whatever services that can be more cheaply done in another offshore location is wise. The advisory company will typically have suggestions and even connections already in place for software solutions, website design and maintenance, and more. The wise business person knows that he or she need not re-invent the wheel and will take advantage of whatever opportunity saves money and enhances profits.

To date, offshore banking is a special banking transaction outside one’s country of birth or nationality that has been steadily growing in number. The transaction is done overseas, so that the banking services will exclude the deposited money from the local restrictions of the depositor’s country such as financial policies, taxes, rules, operations, and regulations.
Offshore banks are actually channels of worldwide trade to guarantee that the international investment surges easily. Typically, most companies that operating via international joint ventures would carry out transactions in an offshore bank, so that neither of the bodies involved in the venture would take on unnecessary consequences regarding taxation and other government charges and fees, as offshore banks provide little or no taxation at all.
Generally, this is the main reason why rich individuals and businesses with international operations deposit or seek financing aid from offshore banks. The demand for offshore banking services has driven a lot of companies to establish their own offshore financing institutions. As they realize and recognize the apparent worth and significance of offshore banks rather than depositing their money or income to local banks, which are bound by government laws and regulation.
The components that sustain an offshore banking bank are large joint venture organizations, big companies with international operations, other banks, and private investors. Offshore banks can be classified as private or separate financing entities that depend on their license for operation and the bodies that transacts with them.
Offshore banks may or may not grant offshore loans to those who are seeking to be granted with it. However, this solely depends on the banking operations and how their systems work. In some cases, business bodies seeking venture would want to take advantage of the offshore loan. The system works completely different from the local banks. One of the major reasons why businesses transact with offshore banks is the optimization of the payment system.
Moreover, offshore loans offer minimal taxation that would more benefit to those who were granted with it. Most of all, offshore loanscompletely eliminates the inconveniences of high cost of interests rates and harsh terms compared to the local banking institutions.

There has been a global crackdown on the offshore financial and business marketplace over the past decade or so. International legislation has been forced through to make operations within jurisdictions more transparent from a taxation point of view; additionally, with the rise in global terror threats, pressure has been placed on nations and companies to stop the money laundering that is associated with major crime on this scale.
Governments have used the excuse of stamping out international crime to erode an individual’s right to privacy, confidentiality, anonymity and even freedom of choice when it comes to money matters, in a bid to keep all money onshore and within reach of tax authorities and ‘big brother’s’ ever more invasive and intrusive gaze.
There are those who state categorically that this is no bad thing, that anyone operating within the law would never require privacy for their money matters anyway. But we believe in freedom of choice, and that everyone acting within the law has the right to privacy – so, can you achieve anonymity and confidentiality with an offshore bank account anymore, or have things gone so far now that the world is watching your every financial move?
A standalone offshore bank account is no longer sufficient to protect you, your privacy, confidentiality and right to anonymity –fact. This is proven by the very fact that there are employees of banks out there who will blow their own institution’s security to sell on private customer data to the highest paying tax authority. Again – there will be those who argue that if you have nothing to hide, why would you want to hide – but to such people we would like to point out that those who operate within the law but have very legitimate and perhaps personal reasons to keep their banking activity and money matters private, should be free to do so.
Take as a theoretical example a high net worth individual who works in a public facing role or in a position of authority, and who is therefore a soft target for a weak claim from someone after making a fast buck off the back of the high net worth individual’s success. If that person can see what they can attack and access, they will take a punt on the legal claim even if they know they’ve got less than a shaky leg to stand on. Take as another theoretical example, someone who is in direct professional competition with another who wants to keep his developments, transactions and financial successes quiet to protect his business. Take as yet another theoretical example someone who has done quite nicely thank you and who is married to a cheat or who has a less than supportive family behind them – such an individual may also want to keep their money matters safe and secure. Why should any of these people be forced to give up their right to banking privacy?
And yet they have had all the layers of privacy and protection stripped away by legislation after subsequent regulatory change. The EU Savings Tax Directive, intervention by the OECD, country specific action by governments and tax authorities – all have rendered the use of an onshore or a privately held offshore bank account 100% useless for anyone seeking any form of privacy, security or personal confidentiality…

You’ll notice that we currently have HSBC advertising their Premier offshore bank account on Lee Byers – but just because someone has an advert on their website, in their newspaper or in their shop window, it doesn’t necessarily mean that person endorses or rates that which they are advertising, does it!
So, is HSBC’s premier offshore bank account worth the money? And is it worth you thinking about if you already bank offshore, or if you’re soon moving abroad and looking for a suitable offshore banking service? We thought we’d do an independent review of the product on offer and the services that are available that come with it, and speak to someone who already has a Premier offshore bank account with HSBC to get their feedback.
It seems that the account offers a truly substantial level of service and can be worth the fees and minimum account balance requirements, but if you’re going to struggle to stay within the ‘relationship balance’ requirements, there are other accounts that could suit you more. The following is a review of the premier account so that you can find out more about it before you decide to buy in – or not!
Why Choose HSBC for a Start?
HSBC markets itself as the world’s local bank – clever – what this really breaks down to is that it is probably the most prolific bank in terms of the branches it has all over the world. As a Premier account customer, this may well appeal to you, as will the fact that there are 300 dedicated ‘Premier offices’ internationally as well. In other words, you will be able to get a high level of face-to-face service, rather than just managing your affairs anonymously over the Internet.
Our account holder reviewer told us that for him HSBC was the right choice because: “I consider HSBC to be the biggest name in ‘high street’ banking terms, so I knew that for my day-to-day banking I’d probably be best served by them. Because I am based permanently abroad but work internationally, I needed massive flexibility and accessibility. I felt that HSBC would give me that and I was right.”
HSBC chooses Jersey as the jurisdiction for the management of your wealth if you’re a Premier customer – and it does so because the jurisdiction is internationally recognised and accepted as one of the most secure and reputable in the world.
What Immediate Advantages Can You Take Advantage of?!
Our reviewer said: “The fact that I live abroad now and work on projects all over the world, yet still maintain a home in the UK for my family meant that I knew my tax affairs were going to be complex. If I’m totally honest I am lazy and disorganised when it comes to my own administrative affairs, so one of the value added benefits of the Premier account for me was having preferential and heavily discounted access to Deloitte & Touche.” (Deloitte & Touche LLP (Deloitte))
HSBC Premier customers can use Deloitte’s International Assignment Service with up to 25% discount on fees for the likes of tax advice, preparation and completion of HMRC forms, and completion of tax returns for employment income, rental income, or other more complex arrangements for both UK nationals and expatriates. This is not only valuable, it can be invaluable to those who have no idea how they’re going to manage their tax matters once they move overseas!
Wealth Management & Financial Planning
Most people prefer to take an independent view of their finances and call in an independent financial adviser to assist with their wealth management when they move abroad – however, as a Premier account customer you don’t have to worry about finding someone to assist! You also have access to an HSBC International Wealth Manager as part of your account’s services.
This can really work for those who what to sort out their money management with the least amount of hassle possible! The wealth manager will look at the whole marketplace – not just HSBC’s own product base – and make recommendations based on your stated life goals.
“I have always meant to get a better handle on my money’s management. But I have ISAs here, a pension there, a trading account and too much money sitting in my current account. Having someone sit me down and work with me through my plans, goals, ambitions and base their advice on my expatriate status, my attitude to risk, my tax status and their knowledge of the whole marketplace was actually invaluable.”
Benefits of HSBC’s Premier Account
As a Premier account customer you can withdraw your cash for free from ATMs around the world, move money around the world for less with reduced fees on international transfers, and get better interest rates on a variety of HSBC specific savings accounts.
You can have a debit card, credit card, you can get cards for your family members, have an American Express charge card and benefit from the ‘Home and Away Rewards Programme’ which is linked to your Premier MasterCard. You get points on all purchases that can be used for shopping, travel, dining and even entertainment.
If you lose your cards or end up in a difficult situation with your wallet having been stolen for example, you can walk into any branch of HSBC and once you have identified yourself, HSBC will take the strain off you. Lost or stolen cards will be cancelled and replaced – and there’s a superior online fraud protection policy in place too.
“I have all the cards I need to access my cash and give me the flexibility I need. I transact a lot online and have had my identity cloned somehow – the first I knew about it was when HSBC contacted me and told me that it had happened, I hadn’t been charged, my cards were going to be cancelled and replaced. It was that easy for me to manage!”
So, Can You Have an HSBC Premier Account?
The Premier account does offer a lot to expatriate and international customers. It has been carefully crafted and thought out, planned and created by those who have genuinely taken time to determine what expatriates and international professionals want from an account, a bank, a service. So, if you like the basic overview of many of the account’s features as discussed above, it may be worth your while taking a closer look and contacting HSBC for more information.
What you need to know is that you have to maintain a minimum so-called ‘relationship balance’ of £60,000 (or currency equivalent) – and this can be quite an ask for many people, most people preferring to keep larger sums under wraps of better interest rates for example. But there are other options and alternatives in the HSBC armoury, such as HSBC Advance, their straight offshore current or cheque deposit accounts. All offer a range of features and benefits that have been well honed to suit an expat’s requirements, you just need to choose which account best suits you as an individual.
If you’re unsure how or even whether HSBC can help, fill in the application form and get them to give you a call. You have nothing to lose, you’re not going to be ‘sold’ an account you neither want nor can necessarily comfortably or happily afford.
And a final word from our Premier account customer reviewer: “I feel my money’s secure with HSBC and I’m achieving a decent return on my instantly accessible contingency fund! That’s the way I look at it – and keeping my balance in place doesn’t harm me – it means I have access to tax advice, financial advice, rewards and a much higher level of customer service than I’ve ever been used to with a bank. Perhaps it’s just another perk of being an expat, I don’t know!”

The concept of offshore outsourcing is considered as a powerful cost cutting strategy by business enterprises. The IT outsourcing service providers located in offshore countries like India claim to process IT works at a fraction of rates of what it costs in the United States.
While it does result in save an enormous amount of money, it is important to analyze all the fact figures before calculating the total cost of offshore outsourcing. And this includes calculation of hidden costs as well. There can be areas where you would need to invest more than you estimate or there may be situations where poor productivity and quality of deliverables can weigh down the potential savings. Here are some cost points that you need to evaluate.
Cost of Vendor Selection
Most clients don’t realize the costs associated with selecting service providers for their projects. This costs include documentation requirements, sending of RFPs, response evaluation and subsequent contract negotiation. And there can also be legal costs associated with the process. The selection of the vendor is an important step that determines the success of the project. Therefore, keep aside a budget of 1% to 10% for vendor selection and the initial travel expenses.
Cost of Hand Over
Every outsourcing deal goes through a transition period where the clients hand over the concerned work to the service provider. This is a rather expensive stage in the course of the project because knowledge transfer involves a lot of time and coordination. Also, this is the phase when you need to overcome the cultural differences between the two parties. This is a very important to strengthen the outsourcing relationship and thereby ensure that the project would be handles well. The transition costs may be shared by both the outsourcing partners in order to bring down the expense.
Cost of Lay Offs
For firms that plan to lay off their employees and transfer the work to offshore providers, it may come a s a surprise that there are costs involved in that too. You may need to pay severance and retention bonuses to employees. It is best to talk to your staff, communicate with them and tell them about your vision for outsourcing. If possible, you may divert the staff for other processes so that there is no dissatisfaction and bad blood.
Cost for overcoming Cultural Barricades
One of the major challenges in outsourcing endeavors is that of cultural differences. Though offshore vendors might have highly skilled and professional staff, communication may pose as a problem in the endeavors. You may either have to spend money on training employees or you may have to face the brunt of mounting costs as a result of low productivity. This is why it is always advised to hire a professional offshore outsourcing company that has enough experience in the industry and don’t have communication problems.
Cost of Contract Management
Another major cost point is that of managing the offshore contract. The costs arise from invoice works, auditing, checks for charges and time records and so on. This is something that happens on a persistent level. And without continuous scrutiny, the outsourcing project may just fail in efficiency. That is why it is important to invest in the diligent management of the project.
